December morning
I love December mornings with its grey clouds,
drizzle gently falling,
the sleeping, yes dormant trees
shutting down for winter’s onslaught,
(referring my own mind to winter nights,
cold, wet, cozy beneath a thick quilt,
as foolish as that may sound);
stark branches against the overcast sky
delicate in the lines presented,
a silhouette of great beauty,
so much somber beauty to behold,
and the silence truly a healing balm
for a mind needing rootedness in the moment.
