In sitting down with loved ones
surrounded by bounty
thanks is given,
time taken to reflect,
to eat and drink with loved ones,
giving thanks
for gifts received,
mercies granted;
prayer for those who do not have,
for it is a time
for compassionate reflection
and contemplation,
deepening ones capacity
to give to those
in need,
for mercy leads to mercy
ad-infinitum.
