The Ocean

With its gentle rolling waves,
That makes such a soothing sound
Breaking upon the sand.....
The sight, the sounds, and the smell,
Allowing one to simply be,
To be still,
And perhaps truly listen,
To its hypnotic rhythm.
Underneath, teeming with life,
With species beyond number,
Swimming, fighting, eating, mating,
Seeking to survive,
Unknowing of the vastness,
Of the world that they inhabit,
Nor the cold darkness of it depths,
That some say hold monsters
That only myth speaks of.
